Anything for Alzheimer's Sale

T-Bones Fresh Meal Market

T-Bones is fundraising for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. to help improve the lives of families, caregivers and people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias by implementing a checkout donation program. This program offers T-Bones customers, an option to make a small donation at the point-of-sale.

T-Bone’s owner Brian Ulveland launched a point-of-sale fundraising campaign in December 2015 which raised $7,295 thanks to contributions from customers at their four locations (Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon and West Kelowna).

In May the following year, T-Bone’s successfully completed their second campaign in which they designated a dollar from every prawn skewer sold that month. They raised $6,756. That’s a lot of prawns!

During the holiday season in 2016, once again they held the point-of-sale fundraising campaign and raised $10,549.41

The prawn skewer promotion in May 2017 raised $7,150 and also that month, the T-Bone’s team participated in the Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s and their team raised $1,195.

T-Bone's once again held a point of sale fundraising campaign in December 2017 and raised $10,627.

T-Bone’s fundraising total is now at $44,472 and 100 percent of the funds raised in each of the T-Bones five locations will go directly to the education and support services offered through the Alzheimer Society of B.C. Resource Centres in the Okanagan.

These centres help those concerned with or facing dementia build the knowledge, skills and confidence to maintain quality of life. The Society plays a critical role by providing families with information, education opportunities, support groups and the ability to speak directly with a knowledgeable staff member or volunteer.

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. would like to thank T-Bone’s customers once again and encourage you to continue supporting them in their fundraising efforts. Your donation will help ensure the services and programs offered by the Alzheimer Society of B.C. meet the growing needs of the Okanagan communities.

Where does the money go?
100% of the funds raised in each of the T-Bone’s five locations (Vernon, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton and Kelowna Mission) will go directly to the Alzheimer Resource Centres in the Okanagan community. These centres help those concerned with or facing dementia build the knowledge, skills and confidence to maintain quality of life. The Society plays a critical role by offering information, education opportunities, support groups and the ability to speak directly with a knowledgeable team member.

What is Alzheimer’s disease?
Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia, is an overall term for a set of symptoms that are caused by disorders affecting the brain. Symptoms may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language, severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. The disease also affects mood and emotions, behavior and one’s ability to perform activities of daily living. There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease nor can its progression be reversed.

Numbers are rising.
The number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia is rising. In the Okanagan communities served by T-Bones, the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia is over 7,000. This number is predicted to grow as the size and proportion of the population age 65 and older continues to increase. By 2025, it is predicted this number will more than double. Also affected by this disease, are hundreds of thousands of wives, husbands, sons and daughters, many who are care giving.

Why should I donate?
