As you may remember, my dad was diagnosed with dementia in 2018 and he has been living in a care home for the last couple years. Due to the pandemic, the care home has restricted visitors, so it has been tough on our family as we haven’t been able to visit him for the last year.
Sadly, he passed away this weekend. In memory of our dad, my brothers and I are doing another fundraiser to raise money for the individuals and families who are impacted by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. There are currently 747,000 Canadians living with dementia and that number is expected to double by 2031. With our dad suffering from Alzheimer’s, we have learned firsthand about the debilitating nature of this disease and how much it affects the whole family.
Funds raised go toward the search for the cure, and toward providing services to help those affected by dementia. For more information about the Alzheimer's Society of BC, please visit www.alzheimerbc.org.
Macquarie will match your donation, so it will go twice as far. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $15 or more.
With your tax refund and Macquarie’s matching, the value of your donation will be approximately three times what it actually costs you.
Please help us reach our goal of $20,000. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
