On August 15, 2020, we will be having a memorial ride in honor of our dear friend Earl Thompson, our buddy who was always there for us, through thick and thin.
In 1990, Earl moved his family from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Kamloops, BC. He was an avid motorcyclist and made many friends through riding in the Kamloops area and abroad. Anyone who met Earl enjoyed his company as he always had a story to tell, combined with his kind personallity and big heart, people were naturally drawn to him.
Earl passed away in August of 2018. His family and friends were devasted. It was soon decided to honour him .... we would have a memorial motorcycle poker run the following summer. It was the least we could do for our fallen brother. Fast forward to August 2019 and we made it happen. We had tshirts depicting a likeness of him and memorial posters of the same. We had a grand day of riding followed by a BBQ and party. There were many stories told of past road trips with Earl complete with laughs and tears.
This year we decided we wanted to give back in Earls name, so we decided to have the 2nd Annual Earl Thompson Memorial Ride and raise funds for The Alzheimer Society of B.C. Our fundraiser is by way of selling tshirts and personal donations. Our ride is one that Earl always enjoyed, and if you ever asked him if he wanted to "ride down the canyon?" he would reply "sure!".
On August 15, 11:00 am we'll leave Tumbleweeds Pub (Kamloops) and stop in Cache Creek. Then we'll ride down to Spence's Bridge and over to Merrit for a fuel stop. We'll meander along the the 5A from Merritt back to Tumbleweeds Pub for a final cheers for the day. Due to Covid19 restrictions we wont be stopping at any pubs or restaurants, so pack your beverage and a lunch as we'll be making some stops along the way to enjoy the outdoors. So come out for a day of riding, have some fun, and blast the pipes for Earl!
Please contact Al at EarlMemorialRide@gmail.com for T-SHIRT ORDERS (View Size & Styles). All payments to be made by E-transfer, or cash only in person). All proceeds go to Alzheimer Society of B.C. The more T-shirts we see on the ride, the better.
