Anything for Alzheimer's Sporting Event

BMO Marathon Alzheimer's Fundraiser: Jody Wilson-Raybould & Team DI-YA

I am running the 50th BMO Vancouver Marathon on May 1st, 2022 (seems right as I am 50).

This will be my third full marathon—but my first in 15 years.

I am happy to have rediscovered my love of running these past two years and I am excited to raise money for a very worthwhile cause—Alzheimer’s. We all have someone in our lives who has been affected by this disease. One in five Canadians have experience caring for someone living with dementia.

My beloved maternal grandfather, James Raymond Hindle, lived with Alzheimer’s for over 15 years until he passed away in 1987. Until almost the very end of his life, he was cared for every day by my grandmother, Irene, his wife of more than 50 years. I will always remember our walks, watching TV together (he loved Hogan’s Heroes) and how, in those special times, you could still see and feel his love.

My goal is to raise at least $25,050.50 for the BC Alzheimer’s Society. I am training my (older) body and mind to complete the 42km/26.2mile race along with a Team of friends and supporters of this cause.

Please show your support for #Team DI-YA and help us reach our goal of $25,050.50. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated (tax receipts will be issued for donations of $15 or more).

Thank you for your support.

Gilakas’la,

Jody Wilson-Raybould & #Team DI-YA

Everyone is welcome to join Team DI-YA (which in Kwak’wala means ‘dear one’ or ‘beloved’) and honour Elders/Dear Ones who so vitally share love, culture, values and knowledge through generations.

As part of Team DI-YA, you can choose to run (or walk) 8km, ½ or a full marathon.

I know we will have fun! [Click here to register].
