My name is Curtis,

I lost my grandfather, Ken Lum on New Year's Eve, 2016. He battled with Dementia for 2 years before he peacefully passed away. He was the strongest man I knew, working until he was 80 (when we literally had to force him to retire) and was the kind of man that would never back down from a fight. I am forever grateful for what he has taught me throughout his life as well as during his ongoing fight with Dementia. I would like to say thank you to my family who has remained so strong throughout this journey and to all of my grandfather's caregivers who really embraced him as if he was a part of their own family. The caregivers are the real heroes, they work tirelessly with dedication and compassion and I believe that they should be able to get all the help and support they need. Therefore, I have teamed up with Alzheimer Society of B.C. to help with that!

On September 30, 2018, I will hike the Grouse Grind in support of the Alzheimer Society of B.C. Climb for Alzheimer’s and dedicating my entire journey to my grandfather, Ken Lum.

People living with Dementia is no joke, and I am personally taking it upon myself to raise as much as I can and to increase awareness about Alzheimer's and other diseases related to Dementia, all of which are becoming increasingly common in our society and are starting to impact people from a younger age.

Please make a donation today and help my teammates and I reach our fundraising goal!

By making a donation, you are helping to make a difference to the more than 70,000 British Columbians who are currently affected by Alzheimer disease and related dementias, along with helping the support for caregivers and many other wonderful programs.

Donations of $15 or more will receive an official tax receipt. Tax receipts for donations made online will be e-mailed automatically at the time of the donation. All other tax receipts will be mailed after the event by the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

If you are here to join us for the hike and be a part of our team, please click "Join Team" on the right hand side of this page and let's get busy! There will be a seperate $35 registration fee to go up the mountain and you can help raise as much as you'd like :)

Join me in ending the stigma of Alzheimer’s disease as it isn't just about our parents' generation – it's about ours. Thank you again and we invite you to join our team if you would like to get in on the action. If not, please come join us on the top at our Summit Celebration to cheer us on as we complete our journey!

Love and Gratitude,

Curtis Lum
