2019 Climb for Alzheimers

Team Nanny

My Nanny is one of the most loving and joyful people I know, and without a doubt the funniest.

Since I was a baby, I spent every summer of my childhood following her around her house in Dublin, just wanting to be wherever she was. That's where the party was!

Some of the happiest memories of my life are talking with her until all hours by the fireplace, just laughing and laughing, begging her for more stories about 'the olden days'. I would give anything to be able to have just one more good long chat with her, and hear her laugh.

Her four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren will attest to just how truly special our Nanny is, and just how difficult it has been to see her suffer through Alzheimer's disease. It's something we hope that no family has to face losing their own Nanny or Granddad to.

On September 29, Team Nanny will be taking on the Grouse Grind in order to raise money for the Alzheimer Society of BC. The Grind might be steep, but its got nothing on the uphill battle that dementia patients and their caregivers go through. The Grind is also not impossible, and neither is finding a cure for this disease.

We would be so grateful if you would consider donating even a small amount. Your donation to this cause ensures crucial programs and services are available in communities throughout British Columbia. It also supports research into the causes and cures, and influences public policy to reflect the issues and realities of people living with dementia.
