Anything for Alzheimer's Sporting Event

Chilliwack 24hr Trail Run for Alzheimer's
Chilliwack 24hr Trail Run for Alzheimer's

24 Hour Chilliwack Trail Run

On Saturday, August 31st, our goal is to run for 24 hours straight on the trails in the Chilliwack River Valley.

Why? Well, this run is in honour of a very special man who is currently living life with Alzheimer's disease. This man is Katrina Abram's Grandfather and after a recent trip home to Ontario, Katrina wanted a way to work through some of the emotions she felt and naturally, thought that hosting an event to raise money for the disease was the only thing that made sense.

There are so many families dealing with this disease and the more we talk about it, the more we can relate to each other and share our stories. We can lift each other up!

Together, and by supporting the work of the Alzheimer Society, you are ensuring there is an organization dedicated to providing services and programs to help families faced with dementia have the confidence and skills to maintain quality of life, and to supporting the search for the cure.

This event will be grueling. Runners who participate for the full 24 hours (or even less!) can expect anything from blazing hot temperatures, chilly rain, wild animals, wind, rocky and rooty terrain and up to 5000m of intense elevation gain. These trails are tough. But that's the point. We want to make a statement. We want to make a difference.

This event is from 7am August 31st to 7am on September 1st and begins at Chilliwack Lake. The route will follow the valley floor and hit several peaks and mountain lakes along the way (Flora Peak, Greendrop Lake, Lindeman lake, Radium Lake, Pierce Lake, etc.) until the 24 hours are finished. This is a point to point event that will go as far as the time allows.

Please make a donation today and help us reach our fundraising goal. And even better, join the team and raise some money for this important cause yourself! The more people who join us, the more fun it will be and the more money we can raise!

Thank you so much,

Katrina
